My favorite project this year was a Pinterest inspired burlap mantle banner. Say that 3 times fast. I had some extra burlap laying around the house, so this was a cheap addition to the fall decor effort.
This was a really simple project. I created a triangle pattern out of paper and then used it to cut out the 7 burlap pieces. I really love the rustic look of burlap, but the only downside to working with it is the ridiculous amount of fraying involved. To prevent this I modpodged the back of each triangle. It made each piece a little more sturdy too, so that was a bonus.
Then I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out stencils for the letters. I really can't imagine my life without that my Silhouette anymore! I used acrylic paint for the letters and glued them to some rope to hang from the mantle. Easy peasy! I love the banner so much I decided to make our Christmas stockings out of burlap. I need to get on that already. I can't believe Thanksgiving is next week!
That was one of my big Fall projects this year. Here's a look at the final decorations. I had a lot more in my mind, but I think I was easily sidetracked this year by all the Christmas decorations out. I successfully ignored them since July, but it's hard not to be excited for my baby's first Christmas!
And next time....another Pinterest project.
