An easy way to make a big statement on your wall is a bright colored frame. One project I would love to tackle this summer is my family photo wall. Right now they are displayed in boring black frames...which are nice, don't get me wrong...but I'm in love with walls like this or this.
So this little project was a great practice run! A sweet friend of mine had a baby shower this past weekend and I wanted to make her a special gift. Her color theme for the nursery is gray, robin's egg blue and red...3 colors which you rarely see frames in. So instead of searching high and low for a frame to match, I decided to find a neat frame and paint it to match.
I was wondering around Home Goods last week and scored this beauty...or soon to be beauty. The gold color wasn't really appealing, but I was able to look past it and bought it anyway!
The picture really doesn't give the gold finish justice...it looked way worse in person. Despite the disgusting finish, I really did fall in love with the detail. How perfect for a little girl's room!
Literally, the hardest part of this project was picking out the paint color. I debated between red and blue, but in the end I chose the Aqua color. (Surprise, surprise!)
So even though I picked the absolute windiest day to spray paint, it only took a few minutes to apply a couple coats of paint to the frame. I took the glass out prior to painting of course, but I left the picture that came in the frame to protect the back.
And there you have it! A 5 minute project that is sure to make a huge transformation in the life of your frame...especially all those gross gold ones! So get to work!
